Update History

Please see following posts for updates in 2016 and beyond.

Updates are normally performed on a Sunday morning 10 AM GMT London time, 5AM EST unless urgent. Patches are often applied to the server as they are completed so in the event of a server crash or other restart they will become active immediately the game comes back up

And here is our To-Do list: In no particular order. Just added new ones to the top.

Complete the three-way Human vs Orc vs Dark Elf faction system.
Complete the Hero/Evil system to award points on a kill of one with the enemy ethic
Boat commands "swab deck" to clear corpses from deck and "remove thyself" command will work on a boat
double carve a corpse to delete it immediately
email house owners when house decay reaches greatly worn (and maybe when in danger of collapse)
hats from shipwrecks don't display "recovered from a shipwreck"
Houseboat design
Pet bonding system will change to use bonding deed or crafted food only
Add reagents to the plant system. Successfully growing a plant will produce 15 or so of that reagent
Player vendors show paperdoll and allow dressing it including armour. Partially done
carpentry should keep the colour of the wood used - perhaps but devalues furniture dye tub
At GM skill, there should be a passive detect on nearby traps. - Will probably use a wearable item for this.
Taming: Releasing a tame named "FredX" also releases tames with the letters in the first part of the name for example "Fre"
Training offered in discord but have to use keyword "enticement" to train it.
Fix pitcher of water being consumed totally when dough is made. Should be 1/3 of the pitcher I believe.
Mage NPCs buy price on scrolls is too low.
Option to make containers lockable in gump. Default not lockable. Reduces item count.
magic wands can't be sold -
magic clothing and boots (partially done) boots of invis
set up xml quests for my NPCs
Change house placement tool --> Prospecting tool to test house placement cheap.
Trapped boxes don’t work right for T2A. Only explode when lockpicked so pointless.
Keys support the trap system [Key.cs] ???????? Thanks Jack Ward. What is this? As above?
Monsters should display [frozen] when they are single clicked if they are paralyzed. [BaseCreature.cs]
Monsters and Animals may use gateways. [Moongate.cs] - Open to abuse, eg. emptying dungeon of monsters, so may not implement.
Mage npcs sell only up to 4th circle spells and check prices are correct. They should buy any scroll.
Veterinarian NPC should res bonded pets.
Some LoS problems still
Research money exploit player vendor bug - anyone caught using this will be banned.

Reward/Plat items:
These are all just under consideration at the moment. Do not take them as decided on.
MummyCoffin addon partially done, needs optional direction
Carpets and rugs although we may make these craftable.

Server Start Date: 2014 November 11
The project began early 2014 but this was the day we got our first non-staff login.
Most of these modifications were done before 16 October 2014 on test centre but I have jumbled them all together as I did not note mod dates.

Set up server name etc.
Felucca only (Although Trammel still exists)
Felucca desolation turned off
Oldstyle moongates.
Moongates must do Felucca only
Cotton, flax, vegetable and wheat fields spawned.
Added a new flax spawn out there somewhere for you to find…
Dungeon chests spawned and contents balanced/corrected
Vet rewards enabled monthly at first to test (this is the default), hence you may see some people with 10 year rewards!
Delucia pens have no way to get in (except teleport!). Removed a couple of fence sections and replaced with gates
Spawn timers on nightmares needs to be slowed a lot from the default.
The East of Delucia spawn is now over a far wider area. We had to hunt for our nightmares in 1999/2000!
Graveyards do not have gates fitted so these needed to be added.
Guards don't kill reds unless criminal
Escorts shouldn’t walk around. Gold reduced (was 900!).
Escorts are generally wrong. Spawns are all close clusters of 3 on docks. Escorts spawn locations corrected and expanded.
Minoc: Doesn't appear to have any escorts at all. Corrected.
Yew: On Siege Perilous there was a mage shop in Yew to the SSW
Tailors should buy a bolt of cloth for 60GP not 50.
Buccs Den: bankers are outside bank, need to move the spawner inside.
Buccs had red shopkeepers but these did not attack you and they would serve murderers and criminals too.
Evil mage lords wore black robes of varying shades. Normal evil mages wore orangy pink. They used to also have blue to black sandals which were highly desirable. Mages are naked - clothes are put in pack. Corrected. Add random hair and skin hue. Create black robe shade random hue set.
The Hedge Maze East of Skara: This has a little building on the North edge which spawned a daemon when triggered.
Magincia: The tinker shop North of the bank had a house seller.
Cove: add cotton to field. Add minter to bank. Add provisioner.
Moonglow: North mage shop doesn't have enough NPCs.
Jhelom: Graveyard gates.
Escort spawn East of the GY.
North island animal pen needs gates and also add some farm animals etc. On Siege there was an animal trainer there.
There were silver serpents in the Lich Lord room on Siege Perilous and two Lich Lords. Leave 1 currently.
Lumberjacking out of resource message not a sysmsg
boards not a carpentry skill - leave as is
Remove "Felucca" from rune names. Correct some "unknown location" descriptions. Make dungeon entrance area names.
Altered/added countless dungeon spawns
Altered/added countless surface spawns
Corrected missing ports between levels in some dungeons


Patch 2015 March 14:

Stable slots set to fixed amounts at skill breakpoints Tame/Lore/Vet

Limit 1 character per account in accounts.cs and expansioninfo.cs OneCharacterSlot = 0x00000014,

Stop items dropped into/onto locked containers becoming locked down inside.
stop player locking down item in a locked down container
tell player that the item has been locked down with over-item message.
Stop house front doors linking automatically when you place a house. This is just stupid!

Town Houses Patch - This allows marking anything as a personal or public house. See the market in NorthEast Britain and the forge/table West of Britain by the pass. Town Houses is very powerful and allows areas or town buildings to be rented or sold to players.

Modified to make crafted Runebooks weigh only 1 stone and not blessed
Mod to reduce reuse delay from 7 seconds to 2 seconds
Close runebook on move

Add green bag of 12 x 8 reagents to pack for mages on character creation
No young system so give everyone a new player ticket
Give newbies a blessed green runebook. Manufactured runebooks are not blessed.

Changed colour of text in runebooks

Mod to make stacks of items split into a new pack when the quantity becomes >60,000 eg gold, boards etc.(server)

Email account registration. On account creation you will now be asked to register your email address which will be verified.

Patch 2015 April 30:

This update comes with new Multi.mul files for additional house types

Changed prices of many items eg diamonds, cloth…
Remove ALL house keys on demolition not just front door
Refresh house by double-clicking the door if friended (even if it is locked and doesn't open) as well as the usual double click of the house sign.

Patch 2015 May 12:

This update comes with new Multi.x files for new buildings.

This update comes with a new Regions.xml file with corrected guard zone wall for West Britain mountains and Magincia

This update brings the house door patch. Now the type of key, name and description of house keys are kept
on the door so that on house transfer, change locks or public to private, the correct key is made
for the correct door and the correct name is applied to it. All keys that match the house doors are deleted
from backpack and bank box on re-deed, transfer or private to public.
Added ethereal (solid) firesteed


Patch 2015 June 10:

Looking at ways to allow marking in courtyards using several rectangles but this means items decay on ground.
Changed area definitions again to allow mark/gate/recall in courtyards but disallow item decay there.
Had to remove TownHouses patch to BaseHouse in order to get this to work.
Future plans are to limit mark/recall/gate in courtyards to friends only. Others will be dumped under sign or blocked.
Allow use of locked down keyrings if house friend but keys not on keyring must be in backpack.
Deserialisation was causing any runebooks to become blessed! Corrected.
Keyring can only be opened in backpack
Keys don't just work in a backpack, but also when on a keyring.
Create Elite Guard for banks
Create Town Guards to wander towns
AI Changes
Allow EvalInt on the town crier and other mobiles but not NPC vendors.
Removed stat loss on death


Patch 2015 August 14:

Tweak Town guards and Elite guards to stop them revealing hidden players every few seconds. This was annoying especially for those training stealth.
Add small chance to spawn a boss mob on most creatures which are coloured gold.
Give small chance for boss mob to spawn a Paragon chest containing loot dependent on mob level
Put account per IP limit back to 3 as players have now found out we are running.
Tweak to : Make skills progressively harder still to gain after 70 base skill.
Remove karma auto-lock
Tweak to monster loot
Now only allow house friends to mark runes in courtyards
Enable different types of wood. The names and colours were not transferring to logs or boards
Adjust skill requirement for special woods.
Oak spawn only.
Frostwood staff possible but need process to transmute oak into Frostwood in future.
Increased boat decay to 15 days and spread warnings
Add spawn to haunted ruins : Papua
Add Unicorn/KiRin spawn in Lost Lands. 1 to 5 day timer.

Patch 2015 August 19:

House friends should be able to access locked down containers, not just co-owners.
Paragon boss mob tweak
Account IP limited set to 3 seems to limit to two! Corrected to allow 3 connections per IP.


Patch 2015 August 30:
Increased number of allowed followers to 7
Let horses eat turnips and check other veg
House owners should be able to be co-owners because shop owners need somewhere to live.
Allowed house owners to also be co-owners of other houses for the same reason.
Treasure maps were all displaying "1 2 3" when single-clicked.
Despite us having no Haven and no Young system, level 0 treasure maps were still spawning. Corrected.
Some Trammel treasure maps were spawning. Removed this possibility
Tweak stat gains
Potions don’t stack. - Going to leave this as is, because it would make potion kegs obsolete.


Patch 2015 September 2nd:

Taming range would not keep up with follow – corrected
Many more loot fixes. Eg. Blood elementals now drop vials of blood as they should
The Villa upstairs room door opened the wrong way so you could become locked in the room.
The stuck system was not allowed from dungeons. Corrected. Increased timer allowance. Please do not abuse it.
Plant system – plants are apparently not growing. Investigate. Checked. Appears to work, but it is hard to grow a plant!

Patch 2015 September 14th:

The command [Where is now available to players as well as staff
New command [Status shows shard statistics. Players, houses, item counts etc.
Dropping a stack of scrolls on a spellbook does not work. Should add one to book and remove one from stack. Fixed.
Adjusted some more skill gains
Increased frenzied ostard speed slightly.
Potions in chests are lesser. Make all greater and add invis, explosion and nightsight
Invisibility potions conflag and confusion enabled.
Loot drop potions were missing explosion and nightsight and also added invis.
Paragon boss mobs extra loot/gold not noticeable. Increased loot pack by one level. Added gold to low level paragon mobs.
Check Mr. Fixit's version of ServerList.cs Add link to test server? Not viable. Test server to remain separate.
Escortables were still giving up to 1000 gold rewards. Reduced to 450 max.
Added summonable horse 1 year vet reward
The stairs down to the bottom level of Hythloth had somehow become blocked. Fixed.
Crafting with different woods does not keep wood colour – leave like this for now (devalues dye tub?).


Patch 2015 September 18th:

Just a quick patch today to beef up blade spirits and energy vortex and also gave them a 50% chance to apply poison. BS give greater or deadly and EV gives lethal.

Patch 2015 September 26th:

Added code to increase account characters to max 5 and 6. Staff only currently. May add as a reward item for possible future use.
Added bone containers as on UO in the old days. Not yet added to loot. These appear as a pile of bones which on double-click open like a corpse
Delucia guards were still revealing hidden players. Please let me know if you find any more.
You should see more purple llamas. They were at 1 in 1000 which was way too low. They should also turn on their caster as per OSI.
Dragons and Wyrms will now not anger on tame attempts.
Added Platinum coins for the reward system. Players will now have 1 platinum coin added to their bank box for every 48 hours of online game play.
Allow chocolate crafting
Allow egg bomb crafting
Meat does not cook - Fixed
A lot of cooking did not work. I have fixed the issues that we have discovered, but dough currently consumes Pitcher of water instead of 33%

Patch 2015 October 3rd:

Taming required path finding to/from the target. This prevented you from taming a creature through a fence. Or from a ledge. Removed.
Blade Spirit and Energy Vortex will now be far less Trammel and will turn on you and other players as they did on OSI.
Teleporting creatures – Many mage creatures could teleport onto you, and they should not. eg nightmares. I have corrected most of these.
Many spawners produced tight clusters of mobs and nothing between. Replaced all sea spawners with XML, spreading the spawn.
Replaced many spawners in T2A so that there are now less empty regions. The spawn has been increased and spread out more.
Removed some "sparkles" teleporters. One from T2A swamp to ice region and distant North, and one from there back to the swamp region.
please let me know if you find any more of these.

The UOSP Client has been updated - please download it.


Patch 2015 October 12th :

Blade Spirits and Energy Vortex WILL now attack other players (he says hopefully!)
Greater Conflagration potions will now drop 50% on fire elementals
Several more mobs have now had teleport ability removed
Items will now not decay on boat decks.
Sell prices of magical weapons and armour were far too high and were not weighted for weapon accuracy at all. This has now been corrected.
NPC hirelings were not dropping their belongings. This has been corrected except for Rangers who would otherwise drop a full set of ranger armour.
Spread animal spawn in Delucia, West of the healer. It was a bit clumped before.
Smoke bombs did not allow use without significant Ninjitsu skill. Removed this necessity.


Patch 2015 October 20th :

Platinum coins will now drop on some tough monsters.
Some mobs will have a chance to drop bone containers
Stopped town guards becoming boss mobs!
Changed a lot of monster spawns and their loot
House decay error fixed. Houses are supposed to decay in 15 days.
House decay switched off globally until after Christmas.
Stabled pets will now be set to max loyalty on stabling and claiming. Previously they kept their existing loyalty.
The [WWW command now opens your default web browser and directs you to http://www.uosp.net
Faction strongholds no longer block entry by players. We have no faction system here.
Added more region descriptions which will appear on marked runes and using the [where command (and [go command for staff)


Patch 2015 October 27th :

Firefields will now do damage to other players on our Felucca facet. Note that this will flag the caster as criminal.


Patch 2016 February 13th :

Snow Pentagram reward item added
Coloured woods can now be harvested in addition to oak, given enough lumberjack skill.
Logs must be converted to boards for carpentry now.
Oak can be used to craft boats given enough carpentry, tinkering, blacksmithy and oak boards, iron ingots, cloth and boat plans.
Boat plans can be purchased from a shipwright for 1000 Gold.
Oak can now be used to craft ladders
Added two new tables to carpentry
Admin toolbar modified
Admin [ViewHouses command
Platinum is no longer blessed
Co-Owners could not secure containers or release secures despite previous patch - corrected.

Patch live on Thursday 24th March
Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs added and spawned for Easter
Easter Eggs must be dropped into the blue Easter Barrel at most banks for a Blue Token coin which can be turned in at the blue token vendor (stone) at many banks.
Added a chance of a platinum drop on many higher level mobs
Increased Evil Mage Lord armour
Animal Lore skill works on any tameable animal is <=100 skill
If over 100 skill (eg Tamers Heart Amulet is worn) can Lore many other creatures too.
Reduced most creatures' range perception
Separately named Ancient Silver Steed from normal Silver Steed in real and also ethereal (summonable) form
Added craftable oak table with runner. Changed height to 6 to match other tables. Client download required.
Added Portable Forge to reward items

NOTE: The client was updated as a necessity for correctly displaying the new cloth-covered craftable tables so you will need to re-download this from the download section of the website.

Patch 2016 April 10th :

Allowed houses to be transferred to GMs even if they are a house owner already.
Increased runebook usage range to 3 tiles
Conflagration potion duration extended to 30 seconds.
Added turkey creature for future events
Alchemists now buy almost all potions, not just lesser.
Inner door on large keep opened the wrong way. Corrected.
Stopped NPCs with no Detect Hidden skill from revealing hidden players.

Patch 2016 April 20:

Player vendors should return deed when retired
Player vendors can now be renamed - single word only

Detect Hidden skill now works on containers. Given enough skill (50+) trapped chests within range will display [trapped] over them on successful use of the skill. [trapped] in orange for magic trap, red for explosion, green for poison and blue for dart trap. Easy traps have a pale hue and harder traps have a darker hue. A skill check is done per chest, so going somewhere with several chests will increase skill gain rate as it should.

Dungeon chests traps have been changed to randomise the trap type. Lower level treasure chests can be of trap types magic, dart, poison or explosion. Only magic trapped containers can be opened by taking a step back and opening them. Others require Remove Trap skill to deactivate them or telekinesis from across the room. This makes Remove Trap a necessary skill again and is in keeping with Siege Perilous. Trap power has also been increased. You will not be able to live through an explosion from a level 4 or 5 chest and level 3 is a gamble.

Remove trap skill has been adjusted to allow high level traps to be deactivated at GM skill. This was impossible before.

Player vendors should give gold if collecting <= 1000 gold. If >1000 gold a check is placed in your bank box.

Hirelings now display [hired] instead of [tame] as per OSI

Patch 2016 May 21:

Add speech command to trigger Hag quest with "Quest/Hail/Hello/Talk/Greetings" localised keywords
Add speech command to get bod status with "Orders/Status/Job" localised keywords
If a BOD is available, you will now be given it on asking for orders.
Covetous: Stairs "teleporters" to dragon room were too low. Could get stuck.
Some ban/accounting times were in local time not UTC/GMT. Corrected.
Disabled Item Insurance. Was still available from context menus although inaccessible.
Fire Pit house addon and deed created as reward item
Server side map.cs mods for latency issues from Vorspire and others.
FastMovement mod for mob pathing from Vorspire
BOD rewards, removed power scroll rewards.
Smith BOD rewards: Added Bulk Order book. 4 types of brazier, 4 hanging armours, portable forge.
Users need to download the latest UOSP client from our website to put flames at the right height on these braziers.
Tailoring BOD rewards: Added 4 types of hanging leather armours plus black, special, leather and metallic leather dye tubs.
Added a Bulk Order reward calculator to the download page. This allows you to look up reward recipes.

Patch 21 June 2016

Added slayer deed reward items
Revamped amour descriptions to include resource name and get rid of a/an for plurals like gloves/legs
Checked inscription bonus to resist/magery [Spell.cs]
Healer sometimes doesn't offer to resurrect you immediately - investigate - I did and it is a LOS issue.
Added three new staves craftable with Frostwood, Bloodwood and Heartwood
Added three new bows craftable with Yew, Heartwood, Bloodwood and Frostwood.
Xanthos' pet shrink system installed. Hitching post will be a plat reward.
Fixed name error for runic sewing kits. Was displaying the name localisation reference number, not localised name.
Added durability/uses/bonus display to some tools including runic tools.
Added bonus description to Ancient Smithy Hammer and Blacksmith Gloves of Mining
Powder of Fortifying will now raise durability of wearables to 255 as per Mondain's Legacy.
